Melissa & Brad
“ THIS is how you should feel when you find someone to spend the rest of your life with.” -Brad
Melissa and Brad first met on match.com (yes an online dating success!); Brad lived in Asheville, NC and Melissa lived in Cary (about 200ish miles apart). Instead of commenting on something typical in their first messages, Brad asked about running, and Melissa asked about his dog. They texted for about a week and planned to get together after the holidays. But Melissa is more impatient and had a good feelings, so they met at Foothills Brewing (a halfway point) for their first date a little earlier than initially planned. Seven hours later, they left the brewery and each called their moms to say they had found the person they were going to marry. Melting
Melissa and Brad traded off weekends between Asheville and Cary for a year. They knew pretty much right away they would be getting married. Melissa told Brad she loved him after their third weekend together, the end of phone calls just felt like they were missing something.
In November, Brad planned a camping trip with Melissa's sister and brother-in-law to Flower Gap in Shining Rock Wilderness. About a mile down the trail (after some Trophy Wife IPAs, ha), he found a good, not crowded overlook and asked her to marry him. (She is pretty sure her answer was, "Duh.") They took a bunch of pictures, called their parents, and had spam, macaroni and cheese, and canned champagne to celebrate by the fireside that night. <3
My experience with Melissa and Brad was amazing. These two were definitely meant for each other. The vibe that resonated from them was pure, fun, and as Melissa describes it, easy. We adventured, laughed and created incredible photos. I hope I was able to give their relationship justice!
Melissa and Brad’s engagement photos were taken on the Blue Ridge Parkway and at Black Balsam Knob. As you may be able to tell from the photos, it was freezing! I saw the ice wall driving up to Black Balsam and immediately asked Melissa and Brad if they were down to go back. They were : ) We then hiked up to get the sunset, pausing in the amazing pine forest that the Black Balsam trail begins with.

Melissa’s bridal session was done at Craggy Gardens on a much warmer day. It was pretty foggy when we reached the top, which gave the photos a mystical feel. And I have to admit, Melissa looked pretty badass hiking up and down the mountain in her wedding gown!

And finally! It’s here! It is so fun to be on this journey with couples. Each session the excitement is greater, building up to the final day. Wedding day. Melissa and Brad’s wedding could not have been more perfect. They even had a ladybug visitor during their first look. More melting. It was an honor to be a part of Melissa and Brad’s story.
